To Zionsville parents, fans, and friends:
Myself and Alex Masten will not be doing the Zionsville broadcast tonight. You can still watch the games online on both the Zionsville page and Hamilton SE page, but the game will be done by the HSE broadcasters. 3 schools in our conference have signed up with audio sports online (Zionsville, HSE, and Brownsburg). Tonight the HSE guys will do the broadcast. We will do the Zville/Brownsburg game and they will send the Brownsburg broadcast team elsewhere. When HSE and Brownsburg play, they will give the broadcast to the Brownsburg team and make the HSE team go elsewhere, and so on…
As of now, our broadcast from last week has 1800+ views! That is twice what HSE had for their last game! I argued to let us do this game, but the owner said its only fair that we rotate the schedule (which it is). I want to thank all of you for your support in our broadcasts! We are not in anyway owners of audio sports online, merely employees who love sports, broadcasting, and our hometown (Zionsville). Tonight we will be in Greenwood broadcasting the Greenwood/Mooresville game as both school are interested in the audio sports online service. I’m very proud of the progress we’ve made in our broadcast and I only hope to get better in the future. After this weeks’ hiatus, we will be back on Zionsville full-time for the remainder of the football regular season (and hopefully deep into the playoffs).
We are always looking to improve our broadcast, so any suggestions or comments are welcome. You are all welcome to contact me in any way through my email signature below. Good luck tonight everyone and Go EAGLES!
Zionsville football fans will have a new way to keep track of the Eagles
this fall. AudioSportsOnline.com has partnered with the Zionsville
Athletic Department to bring live video broadcasts of all nine regular
season games. Fans can watch any game free of charge, by logging onto
www.audiosportsonline.net/2011Fall/Zionsville.htm. The games will also be
archived at their conclusion for any-time viewing.
“It is a pleasure to be working with Larry McWhorter and Greg Schellhase
to showcase Zionsville football like never before,” said
AudioSportsOnline.com co-owner Rob Kendall. “Broadcasting live video on
the web will enable alumni, family, and fans all over the country to enjoy
the Eagles on Friday nights.”
In addition to the live video of the games, Zionsville fans can also tune
in Monday evenings for the Larry McWhorter show, which features an
interview with the Zionsville head coach.
August 17, 2011 To service, jocks flock By Andrea Cline/Times Sentinel managing editor CNHI Ten Zionsville Community High School football players showed their philanthropic side last month when they helped Love In the Name of Christ deliver and pick up more than 30 pieces of furniture and appliances. For a good part of Saturday, July 30, the players, as well as Love INC volunteers, made deliveries to eight families and picked up donated items at four homes, said Love INC executive director Wayne Adams. “These young men were hard workers,” Adams said in an email. “They were very polite and not one of them ever complained. Zionsville (Community) High School can be very proud of their representation in our community.” Ben Nicholson, a senior and cornerback for the Eagles, organized the group of Zionsville volunteers. He said his coach, Larry McWhorter, asked him if he would be willing to get a group of players together to volunteer at a local organization. Having Eagles’s players volunteer in the community is important for a couple of reasons, McWhorter said. “People are in need and we have resources (bodies) to help,” McWhorter said in an email. “I also think that it is a great way to establish a habit of service. For many of our players, it is already modeled by their parents, but it always needs to be reinforced.” Nicholson learned about Love INC from his father, Dr. James Nicholson, whose partner, Dr. Bob Kunz, is Love INC chairman. As a result, according to Adams, Ben Nicholson called him to ask if he had anything the boys could help with. Adams said he knew the organization had heavy items to be picked up and thought it was a good project for young men, especially football players, to do. “It’s a great way for the football team to get out and be involved in the community,” Nicholson said. “We are good people and like serving others and we aren’t just a bunch of football jocks.” Adamssaid Love INC has never had a young group call and want to volunteer. “We have had some churches call, but never a young group like them. Especially to initiate it at a student level...” Adams said. “I was very impressed.” Nicholson and the team volunteer year-round, including moving cans at the Pleasant View Elementary School’s food drive every fall. They have helped out at the Indianapolis Executive Airport, volunteered during the Zionsville Street Dance and Taste of Zionsville earlier this month, and volunteered during the Z Bowl Night Moves event in April. Love INC is a network of churches and agencies that respond “to needs of ordinary people who need hope in the midst of a difficult time in life.” The group has furniture and appliance moves often, but never to the magnitude they had on July 30.
